The Madness of King Dana

Posted in Uncategorized on May 17, 2010 by edge3306

Dana White is a dick. Plain and simple. The man is the quintessential king of self promotion and he needs to go. Mixed Martial Arts will be much better off without his obnoxious management style and draconian demeanor. Dana White takes every opportunity to establish that he is in charge and he calls the shots. He clearly has his favorites when it comes to fighters and there are those he clearly despises. I have had many UFC fighters come to my gym for seminars and I learned that you are only “Dana’s Boy” while you are of some use to him. After that it’s back in the obscurity cage for you.

Dana White has forgotten that it is about the fighters and the fights. He is supposed to be in the background making decisions that will benefit the UFC. He insists on being bigger than the fighters and fights by sticking his big fat head into every aspect of MMA. He talks more trash than any fighter. He is trying to monopolize the MMA world by buying up smaller shows and using them as farm leagues for the UFC. He never gives any credit to any other MMA organization and is quick to kick them when they make a mistake or there is a scandal. Like the Jason “Mayhem” Miller spectacle in Strikeforce’s last show. He jumped all over them about their lack of professionalism which was ironic since a few weeks later Paul Daley sucker punched Josh Koschek after their fight. Dana, people who live in glass octagons shouldn’t throw stones.

He went off on Brock Lesnar for flipping off the fans explaining that its’ the fans that make the UFC what it is today. A while later he was interviewed and basically said fuck the fans who were complaining about the event’s pay-per-view fees and quality of the matches. A little hypocritical wouldn’t you say? He bullies fighters both on the reality show and within the organization. Most people I spoken with don’t like him. Most fighters don’t like him. The fans don’t like him. I don’t think his wife and kids like him. I know I don’t like him. It is just a matter of time before the Fertitta Brothers forget their childhood friendship with him and kick his fat ass along with his fat Dr. Evil/ Mr. Freeze head to the curb. I would love to get in a cage with him and smack him around for a bit while every fighter he ever screwed over poked him with sharpened bamboo sticks through the fence.

Try Walking in My Shoes

Last week I needed to bring my truck in for repairs. The service facility was only a few blocks from my business so I decided to walk there and walk back to pick it up a few hours later. While walking I was a little surprised by the looks I was getting from drivers as they passed me. Even though their cars were going about 35 miles per hour their faces were clearly visible for a few seconds. As they passed me I began to see a pattern of discerning looks from drivers. They weren’t looks of, “Boy, I sure wish I was out walking on a beautiful day like this,” it was more like, “What a loser, he probably lost his license drunk driving.” I began to feel a little self conscious. Here I was walking on a sidewalk with the sun shining bright and a steady breeze blowing the leaves of the trees that provided me with moments of welcome shade and people were staring at me as if I had done something wrong.

Since that experience I have began walking more. I walk 1/2 mile to get my lunch now rather than drive. It’s not that I need the exercise, I do that for a living but I’ve learned that exercising, weight lifting, running on a treadmill, etc. all require some degree of focus and concentration. Walking gives you a chance to clear your head or a chance to think and solve some of life’s problems. It brings me back to a more simple time and reminds me of my youth where I walked or ran everywhere. So stare at me if you want, hey take a freaking picture with your cell phone if you’d like and send it to all of your friends who will look at while driving and crash their cars…and then we can all be walking. See you on the sidewalk.
